Water and stone

Baths cut from the same pale stone as the old press.

Deep tubs, warm brass, and linen dried in the courtyard. The water is warmed by the Alentejo sun.

Bread arrives warm.

The oil was pressed beyond the eastern wall. Breakfast waits beneath the trees until the last cup is finished.

Moving shade.

The retained fountain is fed from the old estate cistern. Its tile is the only pattern the courtyard needs.

From the kitchen

Nothing travels farther than it needs to.

Herbs come through the courtyard door. Bread is baked before the rooms wake. Dinner follows what the garden and neighboring farms bring that morning.
